Japan Country Poster

For this school assignment, I designed a promotional poster for Japan. The assignment was part of my study program and was based on a project from a tourism agency. The goal was to present Japan in an attractive and recognizable way and to make people enthusiastic about visiting the country.

For this assignment, I chose Japan because the country has many recognizable features that can be used well in a creative visual collage. I included different elements that are associated with Japan. I had to take the required elements from the assignment into account: a typical piece of nature, a famous building or monument, a famous person, a product that the country is known for, and an animal that is associated with the country.

I cut out the different images and then combined them into one composition. I tried to make sure that the images did not feel like separate elements, but instead worked together as one clear composition. I also paid attention to the use of color, image composition, and typography, so that the overall style of the poster would fit Japan.

I included the text “Amazing Japan” on the poster. In addition to designing the poster, I also looked into the printing process. I compared different printing companies and eventually chose Drukwerkdeal, because they offer different options for paper and finishing. I also like that they can check my print file before it is printed.

The final result is an A3 promotional poster that aims to convey the atmosphere and identity of Japan. With this school assignment, I was able to practice image editing, image composition, color use, and typography.
